Case study · M&M’S

An M&M’S award, dressed as Liberty

An M&M’S character posed as the Statue of Liberty, finished in silver, with a gold crown, torch and tablet, on a copper pedestal with a gold m

M&M’S is one of the companies that have ordered their employees’ awards from D’Argenta. This is one of them: the brand’s character as the Statue of Liberty, in silver, with a crown and torch in 24-karat gold.

The mascot, made into a monument

A brand character is already loved inside the company that owns it. Posing it as a monument — here, Liberty on her pedestal — turns a familiar face into a statement about what the award is for: leading the way.

Three finishes do the work of colour. The figure is silver, the crown, torch and tablet are gold, and the pedestal is copper with the brand’s m in gold, so the piece reads as M&M’S without a drop of paint.

Why companies give a sculpture instead of a plaque

A plaque is filed in a drawer. A sculpture of the company’s own character goes on a desk, gets picked up by visitors and explained. Recognition someone is proud to display keeps saying thank you long after the ceremony.
